'Orange Shirt Day' brings to focus the truth and recognition of the US and Canada's historical brutal attempt of Indigenous cultural genocide of Indigenous children and their families.
The Orange Shirt Society declared September 30th an annual National Day for Truth and Reconciliation recognizing the damning effects of residential schools stripping away Indigenous children's identity, language and culture - in addition to their abusive practices of horrific physical, sexual, and emotional abuse.
The color ORANGE signifies reclamation and remembrance of our Indigenous individuals and families, along with the over-arching inter-generational community impacts of Indian Residential Schools.
Annually 30th of SEPTEMBER dates the significance of human resiliency from attempted Indigenous cultural genocide.
